The Annual Pan Pacific Microelectronics Symposium Exhibit that took place January 17-19, 2006, at the Hapuna Prince Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii was a great success. As speakers at the Pan Pacific Symposium individuals promoted international technical exchange and joined in a diverse forum for extensive networking among microelectronics professionals from around the world. As rated by the attendees, the Best Paper Award was presented to Alec Babiarz from Asymtek. In his paper entitled ldquo;Advances in Jetting Small Dots of High Viscosity Fluids for Electronic and Semiconductor Packagingrdquo;, Babiarz covers ldquo;the advances and theory of jetting small amounts of viscous materials and the applications that provide enabling technology, new semiconductor packages, LCOS, OLED light emitting devices, miniature electronic assemblies and MEM devices.rdquo; Babiarzrsquo;s paper is currently featured in the 2006 Pan Pacific Symposium Proceedings available in the SMTA Bookstore and shortly in the Knowledge Base at smta.org. The 2007 Pan Pacific Microelectronics Symposium Exhibit will take place January 30 - February 1 at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
