(AUO). The Hon Hai Group has continuously won LCD TV-assembly orders from Sony and Samsung, and is expected to ship 10 million to 12 million LCD TVs this year. Statistics compiled by DisplaySearch, the worldwide leader in display market research and consulting, Hon Hai delivered only about one million LCD TVs in 2009 but the major global EMS (electronics manufacturing services) providers TV shipments this year are estimated to grow 10 times. Hon Hai is expected to become the worlds second-largest LCD TV assembler this year by replacing AmTRAN Technology, Co. Ltd. and closely follow the No. 1 TPV Technology Ltd., which is expected to ship about 15 million units this year. Industry sources said that Samsung aims to ship 35 million LCD TVs this year, compared to 26 million units in 2009, further consolidating its global-leading status in the business. Sony targets to deliver about 26 million LCD TVs this year, and continues to stay at the No. 3 position (trailing Samsung and LG). The Chimei Innolux Corp., a merger between former Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. (CMO), Innolux Display Corp., and TPO Displays Corp. on March 1, 2010 under Hon Hai Group is expected to greatly benefited by increasing TV-panel orders. An analyst of a foreign institutional investor pointed out that AUO is expected to continue to be the largest TFT-LCD panel supplier in Taiwan this year, but the crown is expected to be taken by Chimei Innolux in 2011.
